After many months (years) of planning the whole of workshop dust extractor is installed and running.
Our primary concern is the welfare of our members, with much cleaner air, less noise, and less obstructions by removing the many smaller units scattered around the shed. Also only one unit to clean and maintain.
- Total cost of the project is around $ 64k
- Grant was around $50k from the Victoria State Government
- Rest was covered from our fundraising.
- Unit was supplied by Micronair
- All joints are silicon sealed
- Outside Unit has a silencer fitted to reduce noise
- Key points
- Unit is fully automated
- Every drop down has its own gate valve
- Unit automatically detects when a gate is open and how many are open
- Fan unit automatically determines how fast it needs to run for what is open
- Cleaning of the unit
- Unit has an automatic cleaning cycle at the press of a button
- All dust is shaken into the two bins underneath
- Bins are sealed to the fan unit above using a leaver mechanism
Come down to the shed any weekday morning to see it in operation and see what other projects we are working on.
